Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Specialty: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Job Duration: 19 Weeks Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:00) Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: 2 years required in the specialty License: Must have a California license in hand Certifications: BLS, PALS Must-Have: - Comfortable in every situation and with travel assignments across various unit types - Flexibility to float to NICU and Pediatrics with a 6-hour orientation Job Description: - Provide high-quality patient and family-centered care in a small community-based PICU. - The unit is associated with an emergency receiving center and a level II pediatric trauma center. - Work under the supervision of intensivists during the day and mid-level providers at night. - Top diagnoses include respiratory, trauma, suicide/overdose, neurological, infectious, endocrine, GI, and non-complex cardiac cases. - Execute interventions such as High Flow Nasal Cannula, continuous nebulizer, ventilators, BiPAP, tracheostomy care, G-tube management, pressors, and neurological monitoring. - Be prepared for a varying level of patient acuity, from very sick to very stable. - Occasional requirement to be one of only two RNs on shift without immediate MD presence. - Weekend work required every other weekend. - No holiday requests time off allowed. - COVID-19 vaccination is required, with medical or religious exemptions only. - Familiarity with EPIC documentation is essential. Additional Details: - Modules may be required during orientation, specific to the specialty, and are self-reported.
