Job Description:
The University of Southern California seeks outstanding
candidates for the position of Director of the Technology and
Applied Computing Program (itp.usc.edu) in the USC Viterbi School
of Engineering (viterbi.usc.edu). This is a full-time, non-tenured,
benefits-eligible teaching faculty position with administrative
responsibilities. We are seeking candidates who are committed to
excellence in teaching and who are willing to engage and include
students from a wide range of disciplines and cultural
backgrounds.
We invite applications from candidates who have strong
administrative interests and/or experience and who have strong
expertise in one or more diverse areas of computing and technology,
including artificial intelligence, analytics, blockchain,
cybersecurity, digital forensics, and programming. The ideal
candidate will have: a strong commitment to excellence in teaching,
curriculum development, and engineering education; effective
management and interpersonal skills; and scholarly, technical,
and/or pedagogical achievements that meet the requirements for an
appointment at the Associate Professor of Practice or Professor of
Practice faculty ranks. A Master's or higher degree in a
STEM-related field is required, although a Ph.D. or equivalent
terminal degree in a STEM-related field is preferred.
The Technology and Applied Computing Program (TAC) is a unique and
innovative program that provides technology-related education to
students from all majors at the university. This effort aligns with
USC's $1 billion Frontiers of Computing initiative, the largest and
most comprehensive academic initiative in the university's history
(). The initiative has already resulted in the creation of the new
USC School of Advanced Computing (), which aims to advance
computing research and expand USC's presence in Silicon Beach, L.A.
County's tech corridor. TAC, recently renamed from ITP to reflect
this mission, is an integral part of this new school. Its 19
full-time, 30+ part-time teaching faculty, and 6+ staff have built
a collaborative community that is passionate about teaching and
working with students. The program offers courses and minors in
many exciting areas, including artificial intelligence
applications; applied analytics; blockchain; IoT devices;
cybersecurity and digital forensics; enterprise information
systems; programming; video game programming and technical game
art; and web and mobile development. TAC's award-winning faculty
also work on initiatives such as increasing diversity in
engineering, outreach to underserved communities, accessibility in
technology, and technology for social impact.
This position is available starting July 1, 2025. Candidates should

The annual base academic year salary range for the following
faculty ranks in this posting are:
Associate Professor of Technology & Applied Computing Practice:
$120,000 - $140,000
Professor of Technology & Applied Computing Practice: $140,000 -
$175,000
The directorship administrative role may also include additional
supplemental pay, including an academic year stipend and partial
