Technical Project Engineer - Project Engineering Next generation plants project management focu[...]

Company: Equatic Inc.
Location: Los Angeles
Posted on: November 13, 2024

Job Description:

Equatic addresses one of mankind's most pressing problems, climate change, by removing carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) the atmosphere, while co-producing hydrogen (H 2 ) as a green fuel, both at very low cost. This is based on a novel process that allows electrolyzing sea water, and which stabilizes CO 2 permanently in the form of dissolved bicarbonate ions (in seawater), and solid mineral carbonates. Equatic recently announced the construction of the world's largest marine carbon dioxide removal facility in Singapore, with a CO 2 removal capacity of -3.5 kilotonnes CO 2 per year, as well as engineering & design for a commercial plant in Canada with the capacity to remove 100 kilotonnes CO 2 per year. Equatic has offtake contracts in place over up to 80 kilotonnes of CO 2 removal credits and H 2 production to fill the capacity of these plants. The Technical Project Engineer (TPE) will work closely with Equatic's leadership team, in particular the CTO and the Director Technical Projects, to engineer integrated plant designs, including FEED studies, and modeling of various equipment components, and systems for Equatic's seawater mediated carbon removal process. The TPE will support the development and construction of next generation plants, including defining technical specifications, coordinating/steering external vendors, and conducting in-house FEED studies.Key Responsibilities:

  • Support plant development projects with technical designs, including individual unit operations and integration of the overall facility, and across all phases (conception, detailed design, construction)
  • Modeling & FEED studies of individual unit operations: design innovative process equipment for manufacturability, balance function/features and cost containment, iterate designs based on manufacturability/cost
  • Coordinate with the internal development team on improvements to core electrolyzer operations
  • Translation of business requirements into technical specifications
  • Independently identify and effectively communicate barriers and bottlenecks
  • Integration of plant design with measurement, reporting, verification (MRV) efforts and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) learnings. Define technical requirements and implement in the ongoing projectsRequirements & Qualifications
