Under the direction of the Vice President of Student Services, this
position is responsible for performing a variety of administrative
and supervisory duties related to the functions and activities of
the college student support services and programs. The Dean of
Counseling and Guided Pathways is responsible for providing
leadership, vision, direction, coordination of counseling (general
and online), coordination of student services technology,
day-to-day supervision of staff, faculty, and programs, including
evaluation of the College's student success programs and services,
the Counseling Department, Guided Pathways, University Transfer,
Puente, Upward Bound, Dream Resource Center, and other appropriate
programs/areas as assigned.
The Dean will also train, supervise, direct, and evaluate the
performance of assigned personnel; participate in selection and
hiring processes. The Dean will supervise and work closely with the
chair of counseling. The Dean provides leadership for planning,
development, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of all
counseling services, including academic planning, course curriculum
development, career development, job placement, transfer
preparation, articulation and other categorically and federally
funded programs. The Dean will plan, implement and supervise the
assessment/placement, orientation, follow-up, research, training,
and evaluation of several components of the College's matriculation
processes. The assignment also includes, but is not limited to, the
appropriate related responsibilities for the integration of Student
Services and Academic Affairs/Instruction that support student
success. The Dean will assist in fostering a culture of transfer
and guide the campus in creating systemic change in the college to
meet the needs of underprepared students.

Eligibility Requirement: COVID 19 VACCINATION
Pursuant to LACCD Board of Trustee's Policy 2900, all students and
employees must be fully vaccinated or have an approved exemption.
LACCD employees are required to provide their vaccination status in
compliance with the LACCD Board of Trustees' policy. Newly hired
employees will be required to provide their vaccination status
prior to starting a position or, at the latest, by their position
start date.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
The current salary range is $166,752 - $195,792 annually. The
selected candidate will be placed on the salary schedule for that
class based on a number of factors including but not limited to:
education, scope and breadth of experience and responsibilities,
skills, competencies and accomplishments in accordance with LACCD
Board Rule 10509. An additional, doctoral stipend of $5,940 per
academic year is available for selected applicants possessing a
doctorate degree from an accredited institution. Benefits include

life insurance, and State Teachers Retirement System program.
EVALUATION PROCESS:
1. A college selection committee will review all completed and
approved applications received. The committee screening will
involve an evaluation of the candidate's qualifications in the
areas of training, experience, and personal fitness as determined
from the application package and recommendations from
referents.
2. Selected candidates will be invited for an interview following
the committee screening.
3. Based upon the committee recommendation, finalists will
interview with the president and vice president, who will make the
final selection.
